LONELINESS AND THE SOCIAL NETWORK
This spread is takes a negative approach to
loneliness and how it can spread quickly
through social networks. Nicole and I wanted
to keep it minimalist in the photography
and the design, with more negative space
to represent loneliness. The imagery is
based on the pull quote "It's like the edge of
a sweater: you start pulling and it unravels
the network."

Don't Flirt. FIND A CURE.
This spread is based on the bra color
meme that went around facebook, where
women were asked to post the color of
their bra as their facebook status to raise
awareness for breast cancer. Annie and I
saw this as a negative approach to raising
awareness. It wasn't doing anything
constructive and it seemed pointless. For
this spread we wanted to make a juxta-
position between the image (showing
a bright colored bra and focusing on the
breasts) with the negative approach the
article takes.

LIFE SIMPLIFIED
This article focuses on the life of dairy
farmer (and my grandma) Phyllis Haier.
Amy and I wanted to present the lifestyle
she lives in a positive light, that there are
people who still enjoy living a simpler life
without all of the technology of computers,
cell phones, ipods, etc and that they are
just as happy and connected that way.
